“NO LAND, NO HANDS”. In October of 2015, I partnered with the non profit organization ISLP ( http://islp.org/) to photograph the social impacts from on-going development work in the Thilawa region of Myanmar. I focused on documenting the human impact of the Thilawa Special Econmoic Zone, in particular the forcible relocation of local communities into much smaller living quarters with harsher living conditions, and often stripped of their livelihoods. Over three weeks, I met with members of 6 different villages where I interviewed them and took their portraits. Of the 6 villages, 5 remained rural farming villages under the threat of relocation sometime in the next few years, while the 6th village had already been relocated. Upon my return, I teamed up with Emma Kaywin who wrote the text for the book No Land, No Hands, in collaboration with ISLP. Please contact me if you would like to order a book or would like more information on the project.
